Every time Mercury goes retrograde, the internet collectively panics. "Don't sign contracts! Don't text your ex! Don't leave the house!" And every time, I want to gently say: that's not how this works.
Mercury retrograde is not a cosmic punishment. It's an invitation to slow down in a world that never tells you to. The question is — are you going to hide from it or work with it?
What's Actually Happening
Mercury retrograde is an optical illusion. From Earth's vantage point, Mercury appears to move backward. It doesn't — it's just moving slower than we are as we orbit the sun.
But the energetics are real. Mercury rules communication, technology, travel, and contracts. When it retrogrades, those areas ask for review, not forward motion. The universe is literally saying: slow down. Look back. Reconsider.
